AMC FearFest
What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest. Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

2024 AMC Halloween Movies on TV News
AMC announced that season two of “Interview with the Vampire” will premiere on Sunday, May 12th on AMC and AMC+. “The Terror: Devil in Silver,” a new installment in the anthology series, will be coming to AMC and AMC+ in 2025.

AMC’s annual horror marathon FearFest is bringing the frights in the lead up to Halloween with 31 days of genre programming featuring 80 films and 400 hours of programming. Includes the iconic film franchises Halloween, Friday the 13th, Leprechaun, Alien, and Stephen King classics.

This looks like a generic variation of what AMC has done year over year over year. It’s very predictable and your can find much of this anywhere and everywhere it seems. I’d like to see a line that has a curated feel to me, something with a sense of purpose and history. Maybe a lineup that traces back to one of the original Universal Films like the ‘The Wolf Man’, and taking an element from that film, then takes us on a journey of horror, but not in an immediate or obvious way, but an intriguing way.
Looking at Universal’s The Wolf Man (1941), you could go with werewolves through the years as a theme, in which you might have a general line up like: The Wolf Man (1941), Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, Curse of the Werewolf, An American Werewolf in London, The Howling (please skip the craptastic sequels), A Company of Wolves, Wolfen, Wolf, Blood & Chocolate, GingerSnaps, Wolfen, The Monster Squad, , Dog Soldiers, Red Riding Hood, Howl, Wolves and Sheepskin. — This list embraces the some of the great films, but leaves the crappy direct-to-video to rest on the forgotten shelves of Blockbuster Video where they deserve to be.
Another, i would argue, more intriguing root, is to take an element from the Wolf Man (1941) and perhaps look at gypsies and or curses. This would open the door to a possible line of up films like ‘The Wolf Man (1941), and then go with films varying from Thinner, to The Company of Wolves, to the Ring, It Follows, Drag me to Hell, Christine, Death Bed: The Bed That Eats (1977)(Yeah it’s schlocky, but it’s scholocy in all the right ways), In Frabic, Hellraiser (first one only), Beastly, Darkness Falls, Dark Water, The Grudge, Howl’s Moving Castle, and spirited away and Ella enchanted. Something like this gives you a great range – movies for kids, movies for teens, movives for adults, all the movies are smart, entertaining and well worth watching. You could even round it out with some nice vintage films that you might not expect too see in such a lineup, but if you watch them you’ll realize their a great addition like Abbott and Costello’s ‘The Time Of Their Lives’.
Lets see something interesting this year – something more than just Halloween again cause it’s halloween.
I’m sorry but that sounds terrible and would only appeal to a VERY VERY SMALL audience. The way they have it setup is pretty nice, It goes from early 1970’s to the late 1980s and 1990’s and also has a good amount of newer movies(2000-2020)
That sounds awful. Way too many Werewolf movies in there for my taste, as well as some fantasy junk that has no business being put into the horror genre. I am also sure that a line up like that would go over like a lead balloon, which could result in AMC pulling the plug on the whole Fear Fest thing altogether.
This sounds terrible. Thank goodness AMC is not listening to you. I’m sorry, but I can’t think of a less entertaining FearFest lineup. There is absolutely no Halloween theme whatsoever. There is a reason the Halloween movies are good for Halloween. The original John Carpenter’s “Halloween” is for Halloween what “It’s A Wonderful Life” is for Christmas.
I think you would do better to tune in elsewhere.

Bring back Halloween II 1981 Andy Halloween III Season Of The Witch
Halloween 2 (1981) is the ultimate sequel to the original John Carpenter classic, hands down! And, Halloween III may not have Michael Myers in it, but it is one of the very few movies about Halloween that I actually find quite interesting. It’s original, creative and it’s all about Halloween. Halloween III goes to the roots of Samhain, the Halloween celebration of the ancient Druids, and they pull it off well. It’s got that Halloween feel to it that so few movies actually have.
I hope they bring both of those back to FearFest this year.

Wooohooo starts October 1st.. a whole 31 days of movies this time. Hopefully Romero’s dead movies get shown this year. Including Diary of the Dead.
I just looked at the AMC Feer Fast year and I went up till October 16 and I didn’t even see a single Halloween marathon I can’t wait that long for a Halloween marathon

I agree with others, why can’t you show some of the scary movies like Dracula, Werewolf of London, movies from the 60’s when I was a kid. Those were scary to me. At least give us a variety of old and new.
Very disappointed, no classics( Dracula, Frankenstein, wolfman, not even nightmare of elm st.) Lots of double showings, none of the sequels in order, movies that have nothing to do with Halloween horror. You can do better than this!!
They don’t own the rights to show those old movies, so they are limited to what movies they can have on
I agree , very disappointing line-up… no classic Hollywood: Frankenstein, Wolfman.. AMC channel has never been the same since it started commercial TV. I watch it very little now days.
I’m on not happy about this year’s fear fest. I was surprised they didn’t show child’s play, scream or scary movie. Instead of fear fest starting October 13 or towards the middle of October. Why not start October 1st to October 31. A whole month of scary movies. No Damien, the omen, cujo, Carrie and some other movies shouldn’t be shown.
I am disappointed in this years fear fest. No dracula, no Scream, not even the Halloweens in order. Independence Day really? What about The Strangers or Child’s Play or any of the Insidious or the Conjuring??
