4.5/5 - (549 votes)

What is FearFest? In 1997, the AMC network launched Monsterfest, a popular week-long marathon of horror movies and thrillers that aired in late October. On September 26, 2008, AMC announced the launch of a new horror-themed movie marathon for its October schedule called “Fearfest” which replaced Monsterfest.  Fear Fest typically runs from mid-October every year until Halloween (often the day after too) and in recent years has run throughout the entire month of October. In 2023 AMC ran a “Kickoff to FearFest” that began on September 25th.

Please make Fearfest longer this year, because we fans are loyal and deserve better. I look forward to Fearfest every year, and the last couple of years have been a real disappointment.

I liked Fear Fest better when it was monsterfest. They show the same movies every year, and that gets old. I mean I will be tuning in, but just in case they show some of the same crappy movies I’ll just dive into my horror dvd and blu ray collection. Please do not show the Tremors franchise. And now they have a part 6. Are you kidding me? I really wish they would show Clownhouse I absolutely love that movie. And I’ve been looking everywhere for that movie. I know there is some controversy surrounding the movie, and I don’t condone what happened to that poor child. But could somebody please release this film on blu ray? And I wish they would change Fearfest back to Monsterfest. I love Halloween, and really enjoy this time of year.

I know this is EXTREMELY late, but, I think AMC should play the populars and just the ones fans WANT to see. I’ll name some and It will NOT be the kiddie kinds of halloween movies they play on FreeForm.
Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween H20, (The best of Jamie Lee chronicles), The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2,
A Nightmare on Elm Street 1, 3, and New Nightmare, (Best of the Nancy chronicles), Scream (1996), Scream 2, Scream 3, Scream 4, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, It (2017), Rings (2017), A Quiet Place (2018), Saw (2004), Saw II (2006), Jigsaw (2017), Don’t Breathe, Lights Out, Unfriended, Unfriended 2: Dark Web (2018), Hush, The Strangers, The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018), Slender Man (2018), Truth Or Dare (2018), The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy, The Purge: Election Year, The First Purge (2018), Hell Fest (2018), Jeepers Creepers (2001), Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003), The Grudge (2004), The Grudge 2 (2006), Final Destination 3 (2006), You’re Next (2012), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) Leatherface (2017) Child’s Play (1988), Child’s Play 2 (1990), Child’s Play 3 (1991), Bride of Chucky (1998), Bloody Murder (2000), Valentine (2001), Urban Legend (1998), A Haunted House, A Haunted House 2, Scary Movie (2000), Scary Movie 2 (2001), When a Stranger Calls (2006), Wrong Turn (2003), Wrong Turn (2006) and Friday the 13th (2009)

If there’s anything you wanna change or make an agreement, just comment. (There might be more you guys want to add or some you want to take off.) But, these movies brought me alive on Halloween. It’s okay if they don’t add the new ones from 2018, but everyone needs to see them either way. Anyways, I think it’s what WE want and we need to have a successful halloween these days.

I TOTALLY agree! I actually seen most of those movies and I LOVE them. If anyone still loves the oldies, then AMC should probably keep them for this coming halloween. WE are looking forward to this years FearFest. I’ll add some in there that we can enjoy.
Joy Ride, Friday the 13th Part 4, part 6, The remake was alright…. Pet Sematary, Pet Sematary Two, Freddy Vs. Jason, Carrie (the old and the new), Cujo, Christine, The Shinning, The Thing, Suspiria, The Last House on the Left, The Cabin in the Woods, Poltergeist, The Excorcist, Prom Night, The Fog, The Burning, Cherry Falls, Hellraiser, Psycho, Don’t Look Now, Get Out (2017), The Babadook.

    • U good u good Brandon! They prolly ain’t gonna add the newer 2018 horror movies sadly. I wish, we all do. But if they could, it would be just as great! Here’s some more I would like to add. Boogeyman, The Children, The Messengers, Black Christmas, Terror Train, House of Wax, Wrong Turn 2, Hush, Sleepaway Camp, and waaay more! You added most of mine Brandon and Tori YESSS FEARFEST 2018!

  • Yes I agree with all of these comments. There needs to be more movies with just the original mainly and that’s it unless the sequel and trilogy is just too good to pass up! Even have some suspense in there too. Scream, Jeepers Creepers, when a stranger calls, the last house on the left, Poltergeist, and Phantasm. Mix it up as well with newer movies in the 90s and early 00s as well as the older original movies too! Of course Jason, Freddy, Halloween and Tx chainsaw massacre are the real ones to show, but yes mix it up with scream, Jeepers Creepers, and I know what you did last summer movies. Those are classics if you were born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s. Come on amc I believe in you!
